Our team started implementing clean beauty and skincare products/routines a few years ago, and it’s pretty amazing how your skin can benefit from using real ingredients, cutting back on alcohol and sugar, and drinking more water. Ready to make your own products to try at home?

This makes us want to have a spa-themed craft night. Are you into it? xo, The ABM Team
P.S. If making beauty products isn’t your thing, check out our favorite clean beauty must-haves from some of our favorite brands or check out our podcast Episode #20: Our Clean Skincare + Beauty Favorites!
I tried making my own body scrub a little while ago but I wasn’t very successful because it seemed to ‘go off’ very quickly. Do any of these have an expiry date? I’d love to give a few of them a go, but I’m not really a religious user of any products because I’m lazy so they might be stuck on the shelf for a little while.

I’m going to have to try the face mist and mask!

I’m wondering what your thoughts are on suggesting “clean” beauty and “clean” living while both explicitly promoting Amazon and frequently linking to them. It’s no secret that the convenience culture Amazon perpetuates is the opposite of clean when it comes to the environment, as well as to the health of small businesses and communities. I’ve seen comments like this come up on other posts, but I’ve never seen them addressed. To suggest something is “clean” but only in certain contexts or up until a certain point feels pretty backwards and irresponsible, especially considering the platform you have.
Hi! We never claimed to be purists or to boycott Amazon. If you want to- that’s great for you.
I’m a big believer that doing *some* positive actions is better than doing none. Being imperfect at something does not erase the efforts to do better. For me, sustainable changes are something I have to implement over time- which is why we’ve been swapping out one bad product/habit at a time for years now. If we waited until we were perfectly sustainable/zero waste to blog about these topics we never would have started. 🙂 We’re just real people doing our best- and learning along the way.
Amen sista! I am always so hesitant to share when I like a new “green product” because I know someone will jump in and tell me how many things I am doing wrong outside of that one small act. I couldn’t agree more that if we waited until we were perfect and doing all the right sustainable things, we would never be able to start. Thank you for being such a bright light and for sharing these awesome ideas! I pinned them and can’t wait to give them a shot!
Amen! Progress NOT perfection is what’s important. And I applaud anyone who is trying to make a change because everyone can’t care about everything all the time! I just started getting into clean beauty and I am so grateful for this post!
I absolutely agree that making steps is doing better than doing nothing, but is linking to small businesses and bookstores and avoiding Amazon round-up posts that big of a leap?
Do y’all have a DIY hair mask that you’d recommend? I’ve been trying to find a recipe that works for me because I’m trying to grow out my hair, but my ends are so damaged every time I go see my stylist she has to cut off as much as I’ve been able to grow.
Thanks for this post! So many great DIYs to try out! 🙂
